1The challengeAppartamenti Mare Sardegna manages seafront holiday apartments in Sardinia and was relying exclusively on the major OTAs (Booking, Airbnb), paying high commissions and lacking a direct channel to capture organic traffic. They needed a proprietary platform able to drive commission-free direct bookings, speak to both Italian and international audiences (English being the real growth channel), and rank on Google for high-intent queries such as "holiday apartments Sardinia", "Sardinia beach rentals" and their Italian equivalents. Clear constraints: no dependency on third-party CMSs or plugins that slow the site down and create technical debt, full code ownership and top-tier Core Web Vitals.

2The solutionWe designed and developed appartamentimaresardegna.com entirely in-house: custom Next.js architecture with server-side rendering for SEO, bilingual URL structure (/ for IT, /en for EN) with proper hreflang tags on every page, multilingual sitemap and schema.org LocalBusiness/LodgingBusiness markup on every apartment. Proprietary booking engine with availability calendar, seasonal pricing, date blocks and automated email confirmations — zero dependency on external booking engines. Contact and reservation request form configured with dedicated SMTP (notification to the property manager + bilingual autoresponder to the guest), server-side zod validation, honeypot anti-spam and rate limiting. Full technical SEO: translated meta title and description on every page, multilingual OpenGraph/Twitter cards, optimized images with lazy loading, Lighthouse 95+ on mobile. No WordPress, no plugins: only our own code, maintainable and fast.
